Kernel Panic with kernel 2.4.12 and 2.4.16 on a Powerbook Firewire
I have a G3 Fire-Wire Powerbook Pismo, and I installed SuSE PPC 7.1 ; I have 512 MB of RAM, 17GB of disk. I tried to upgrade the kernel from 2.4.2 to 2.4.12 and 2.4.16. I found the rpms for the kernels on ftp.suse.com. Both kernels ( 2.4.16-55 and 2.4.12-43) gave me a kernel panic, during boot, or later when the machine was running. During boot, the kernel panic message on the screen was: Bad trap at PC: c00067f8, SR: 9032, vector=100 Not tainted vector: 100 at POC= c00067f8, Ir = c0005da4 msr=9032, sp= c62b33e0 [c02b3330] current=c02b140,pid=0,comm=swaper I went back to 2.4.2, but I would like to use power management. I understand pmud is only supported for kernel versions >= 2.4.7. Has anyone encountered this problem ? Am I doing something obviously wrong ? Any help/suggestion would be extremely appreciated. I thank you very much. Francois
