I have determined that the installation of suse 10.1's most recent updates breaks my screensaver. I reinstalled suse yesterday to determine what was causing my screensaver to break. The screensaver worked right up intil I did the updates. After that, if I right clicked on the desktop and went to Configure Desktop.. Screensaver the screensavers would take a couple of seconds to load and they would test okay, but if I set the time to 1 minute, hit Apply and OK, the window would close but the screensavers would never start. Has anyone else noticed this problem on their ppc? More importantly, does anyone know how to get the screensaver working again? I have been able to replicate this problem on both a G5 1.6 desktop and a G4 1.25 Ghz dual desktop. The files that were updated were: bash.ppc 3.1-24.3 pam.ppc 0.99.3.0-29.3 qt3.ppc 3.3.5-58.3 kdebase3-ksysguardd.ppc 3.5.1-69.15 kdebase3.ppc 3.5.1-69.15 dhcp.ppc 3.0.3-23.1 dhcp-client.ppc 3.0.3-23.1 glib-sharp2.ppc 2.8.2-15.1 cdparanoia.ppc IIIalpha9.8-562.3 gtk-sharp2.ppc 2.8.2-15.1 dhcdbd.ppc 1.12-14.2 cyrus-sasl-saslauthd.ppc 2.1.21-18.3 cron.ppc 4.1-45.3 powersave.ppc 0.12.18-0.2 syslog-ng.ppc 1.6.8-20.3 foomatic-filters.ppc 3.0.2-20.3 aaa_skel.ppc 2006.5.19-0.2 kdebase3-SuSE.ppc 10.1-58.3 susehelp.noarch 2006.05.03-1.2 Thanks! Probably the kdebase3 and/or qt3 files. There should be a fix for that. I just updated some KDE files last night on the i386 setup and the screensaver had returned to normal operation, so I'm thinking it should be corrected by now for the PPC as well. regards, Lee
Just checked and there are no new updates available for the PPC arch. I'm sure you are right about the probable culprits and I will keep checking for updates. Thanks. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

I suggest you open a KDE bug at http://bugzilla.novell.com/
