Has anyone got the Advansys driver working?

Hi. Has anybody managed/not managed to get an Advansys scsi card working in PPC Linux? I have a PM8600 and an Advansys ASB-3940-U2W scsi card. The card works fine under MacOS. Unfortunately this is not the case with Linux. I have tried compiling numerous kernels from various different sources (2.4.20-8d, benh-2.4.22, 2.4.22), both with Advansys support built in and Advansys support as a module, but the same thing always happens. The machine freezes completely. I do not get the problem when the Advansys card has been phyically removed from the machine. I understand that a couple of years ago there was an issue to do with big/little-endianism which prevented the Advansys driver working on PPC machines, but I can't find anything more recent about this. I get the impression that this problem is supposed to have been sorted out. The Advansys website is useless about this, despite some fluffy witterings about their commitment to Linux. I'm not holding out much hope that they will reply to my email. The only thing I can think of left to try is to update the firmware to OSX compatibility, but this would prevent me using the card in MacOS 9, which I don't want to happen. Thanks Robert
