Quick "expert" partitioning Question SuSE 10.1 on IBM ppc
OK - finally made a bootable 10.1 iso and got my IBM B50 ppc box to boot from it. I have to run YaST in text mode however and I've gotten to the point of partitioning. Because my 9.1GB SCSI HDD was previously partitioned by AIX with LVM it appears that the SuSE installer won't tough it. It requires me to use the Expert mode of the partitioning to manually do it. Shouldn't be a problem, but no matter what combination I try it will NOT accept my setting when I use the "Finish" button. I am trying to partition similar to the following: 1st partition is the boot partition (/boot) 2nd partition is the swap partition (swap) 3rd partition is a reiser mounted (/) Can someone familiar with this PLEASE recommend the "expert" settings I should use or could use to assign the entire HDD to the SuSE install??? Any/All suggestions/recommendations appreciated. Signed: frustrated LX'er

Do you get the "whole disk" option? Partitioner -> Custom partitioning -> (1) sda -> whole disk? I will try to reproduce it here. -- short story of a lazy sysadmin: alias appserv=wotan
Hello Bob, you should go to experts settings and delete entire partition table first in order to delete AIX signature. After that you will need at least following partitions: Device - Type - Size /dev/sda1 - (41) PPC PReP Boot - max 24 MB for SUSE (no mount point), if you encounter boot problems try 16 MB /dev/sda2 - (82) Linux swap - 1 GB /dev/sda3 - (83) Linux - min 4 GB You can also get the step back after deleting the entire partition table and let yast to propose you the partitioning values.
