Dear listmembers! I plan on getting an Apple iBook but wouldn't if there were any unsurmountable issues concerning getting Linux PPC running on it. I had thought of SuSE 6.4 . Does any one of you have this combination running? Please be so kind to share your experiences, good or bad. TIA! Hello, I'm using SuSE PPC on an iMac DVD SE which is close to an iBook. It works and is fast and stable. But there a minor problems with LinuxPPC in generel. The X-Server isn't accelerated and very, very slow and there is no sound, not even a single beep. Furthermore I can't operate the internal modem, it isn't recognized as device. Hope this helps. Yes, we run SuSE Linux PPC on an iBook here as well. As mentioned before, the X desktop is not very fast, but it works... Modem works, Ethernet works with dropouts, Sound: no info about the chip, Airport: no info about the stuff. Graphicschip works since monday this week. I will post newer kernels this week, it includes also the USB backport. So you might be able to use more USB devices, please send feedback to this list.
