boot splash

Hello, Is there any way to use boot splash on PPC? I read documentation at http://www.bootsplash.org/ but it seems to be a bit outdated. When I tried to compile kernel with bootsplash support, I was not allowed to access the menu (couldn't turn it on). The support packages are installed by default... Bye, Peter
