HY there, I am using suse 64ppc with XFree4 (penguinppc)and Kernel 2216 with modules and binded F11 and F12 for mousebuttonemulation: http://sdb.suse.de/de/sdb/html/poeml_mouse_buttons_emulation.html This works with my G4. I am still having problems with middle/ right mouse button emulation on my Performa 6400/200.
CASE 1: -------
Standard SuSE 6.4 installation from CDs:
Linux XXX 2.2.14 #1 Tue May 30 01:15:50 GMT 2000 ppc unknown Linux version 2.2.14 (root@PMAC.suse.de) (gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)) #1 Tue May 30 01:15:50 GMT 2000 with /proc/sys/dev/ |-- adbmouse | `-- button_emulation |-- cdrom | `-- info |-- mac_keyb | |-- adbiso_conversion | |-- adbkbd_debug | `-- shift_conversion `-- usbmouse `-- button_emulation
After hours of experimentation, I got there: middle/ right mouse button are realized by
COMMAND (Apple) + mouse click for middle button CONTROL + mouse click for right mouse button.
You have to very quick with the command/ control key.
This is the other way round than the description in my SuSE 6.4 manual.
Also: there is no use for the OPTION key, different from various pieces of advice (e.g. from SuSE support).
All this might be otherwise on other boxes.
CASE 2: ------- Upgraded to 2.2.15pre20 This is my preferred version, because I have a precompiled kernel/module pair for running Mac-on-Linux.
Linux XXX 2.2.15pre20 #4 Thu Apr 27 12:45:33 CEST 2000 ppc unknown Linux version 2.2.15pre20 (root@chezmoi) (gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release/franzo)) #4 Thu Apr 27 12:45:33 CEST 2000 with /proc/sys/dev `-- cdrom `-- info
Single (left) mouse button works, no way to activate middle/right mouse button.
CASE 3: ------- SuSE upgrade to 2.2.16
Linux XXX 2.2.16 #1 Tue Sep 12 06:32:43 GMT 2000 ppc unknown Linux version 2.2.16 (root@PMAC.suse.de) (gcc version 2.95.3 19991030 (prerelease/franzo/20000625)) #1 Tue Sep 12 06:32:43 GMT 2000 with /proc/sys/dev |-- cdrom | |-- autoclose | |-- autoeject | |-- check_media | |-- debug | |-- info | `-- lock `-- mac_hid |-- adb_mouse_sends_keycodes |-- keyboard_lock_keycodes |-- keyboard_sends_linux_keycodes |-- mouse_button2_keycode |-- mouse_button3_keycode `-- mouse_button_emulation
Under X, no mouse operation at all. -----------------------------------
All suggested attempt for middle/right mouse button emulation via F1/F2 or F11/F12 pairs did not work for me.
Further hints are highly welcome.
