Fixed by using a different video card. --- jonas tyler <buenavista939@yahoo.com> wrote:
Found that I need to boot the 64bit kernel. But then the problem is that once YaST is started, the display is not initialized right. The display show stripes, and I could not see characters. The font is huge. Does anyone know how to make that work? It is a digital p260 display. Thanks

Hi,
I am trying to install SUSE LES 9 on an RS 6000 box and I always get the following message " Calling quiesce ... returning 0x01400000 from prom_init " and the machine hangs.
Does anybody have similar prior experience and know how to deal with this? What does this 0x01400000 code mean? What does "quiesce" do? I googled, and could not find any documentation about that. There seems to be plenty of booting problem with prom_init returning this code, but I don't see how to address this during installation. Any suggestions?
Thanks. Jonas
