Hi, I have upgraded my kernel from 2.2.16 to 2.4.2 but suspect I'm still booting into the old kernel. I'm using a B&W G3 and booting with BootX . Is there some step I should take to ensure I'm booting into the correct kernel? Is there anyway I can tell which kernel is currently in use?
You have to install k_deflt.rpm to get all modules on the Linux side.
I did this .. the install process seemed to go ok.
Boot the file "vmlinux-2.4.12" with BootX from ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/ppc/kernel/2.4.12/vmlinux-2.4.12.gz
I didn't install any special vmlinux file .. the vmlinux file appeared in the /boot directory after I installed k_deflt.rpm .. I assumed it was a part of the rpm package. The problem I'm having is that bootX is not giving me the option of booting the new kernel .. even though I can see both the new and the old vmlinux files in the /boot directory. I would have thought bootx would pick up the new file by itself. many thanks. -- - ____________________________ - Jonathon Wallen - B,DES College of Fine Arts, UNSW - z2213441@student.unsw.edu.au - jwal707@cse.unsw.edu.au - jonathon@fridge.unsw.edu.au - ____________________________
