Hello everybody I have finally been able to build a SMP kernel that works on IBM RS/6000 7025-F50 (4 processors 604e, GTX120P, AMD PCnet32). After trying several kernels that didn't work I found a note on debian-powerpc list from george.karaolides@planitis.net about this. Thank you George! Download the source 2_4_devel via rsync (rsync can be installed from the SuSE 7.3 PowerPC CD's) with the command: rsync -avz source.mvista.com::linuxppc_2_4_devel /usr/src/linux The path at the end (/usr/src/linux) can of course be any of your choice. Make your configuration with support for SMP and build your kernel. I stripped of everything I didn't need, for example I got an error related to Power management but after deselecting everything related to that it built OK. I placed the zImage.chrp in my PReP Boot partition with: dd if=/usr/src/linux/arch/ppc/boot/images/zImage.chrp of=/dev/sda1 and my machine booted OK from the hard disk.
