I have a slight problem when running KDE2.01 from SUSE and wanted to see if there is a fix for it.
As far as I am concerned, when not running KDE2, X windows 4.01 runs very well on my iMac. Faster than OS9 :-)
However, under KDE2 (KDE 1.12 is fine), I get trailing pixels when I move icons across the desktop and if I slide windows over each other, it leaves 'snow' over the window which is only rectified if I raise and lower the window to refresh it.
Is this a know problem? Does anybody else suffer from it?
Other problems include not being able to listen to audio CDs nor rip them (the CD is not recognised as an audio CD - have tried all the fixes for digital audio I can find on the web) and MOL (latest version following instructions from SUSE knowledgebase) doesn't work, producing a grey screen and hangs.
There is XFree86 4.0.2 in ppc/X/suse70/4.0.2. Get x*-2.ppc.rpm and update with "rpm -Uvh x*-2.ppc.rpm". run "ldconfig". Do this ONLY if you have a r128 card, add Option "usefbdev" to the screen section in you /etc/X11/XF86Config. There is a known drawing bug in 4.0.1 r128, its fixed in 4.0.2. Of course, we have now many other bugs... Gruss Olaf -- $ man clone BUGS Main feature not yet implemented...
