I've upgraded from 2.2.16 kernel to 2.4.2-11, I installed the k-deflt rpm on the linux side .. put the 2.4.2-11.gz file in the /boot directory and use the copy option in lilo to copy the vmlinux file over to the hfs partition so I can boot it with bootx.. I also upgraded ppp and modutils.
now I can boot into my new kernel but I only get about 5 minutes in kde before it freezes completely forcing me to hard reboot the machine.
what am I doing wrong?
I'm using a B&W G3 with a Suse 7.0 install.
I think it is related to sound. Can you try a newer kernel? ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/ppc/kernel/2.4.16/k_deflt.rpm It requires also newer modutils: ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/ppc/kernel/modutils.rpm Gruss Olaf -- $ man clone BUGS Main feature not yet implemented...
