problem on debian sarge + kernel 2.6.1 bad ioctl
Hi all, Running Debian sarge and kernel 2.6.1 and getting the following error when trying to setup the drive. Any thoughts? FYI: I just started with UDF so don't know much about it. The udf kernel module is statically compiled into the kernel. pktsetup /dev/pktcdvd0 /dev/hdc ioctl: Inappropriate ioctl for device

Have you patched your kernel for packet writing?
I've got it all working with 2.6.6 and 2.6.8.1. You could try switching to
a newer kernel.
But please note that packet writing in Linux is still much too slow for
most purposes, to be useful. Please read the thread, which I've started a
few days ago.
Best wishes,

Linux 2.6.8.1 gives the same result. I have not patched the kernel because the patch on the below link is for the 2.4.x kernels. 2.6.8.1 appears to have the module src all as needed. What am I still missing? Thanks http://packet-cd.sourceforge.net/download.php3
Try the links below, taken out of a previous mail from Peter Osterlund: Here is a patch for 2.6.8: http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/patches/packet/2.6/packet-2.6.8.patch.bz2 Note that an updated pktsetup program is required. Get the udftools patch here: http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/patches/packet/udftools-1.0.0b3.patch.bz2 /Carl On Wednesday 13 October 2004 23:04, hanasaki wrote:
