I have just installed kernel 2.6.10 (from debian source)
i'm tring to get packet writing to work
writer:
Probing IDE interface ide1...
hdd: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-107D, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15
hdd: ATAPI 63X DVD-ROM DVD-R CD-R/RW drive, 2000kB Cache, UDMA(33)
Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20
first with a DVD+RW
# /etc/init.d/udftools start
Starting udftools packet writing:
/dev/pktcdvd/dvdwriter=/dev/hdd
# pktsetup -s
0 : 254:0 -> 22:64
# mkudffs /dev/pktcdvd/dvdwriter
trying to change type of multiple extents
dmesg ->
pktcdvd: writer pktcdvd0 mapped to hdd
pktcdvd: pkt_get_last_written failed
now with a cd-rw
cdrwtool -d /dev/hdd -i
using device /dev/hdd
1222KB internal buffer
setting write speed to 12x

I am running UFS on my Debian testing/unstable box on my NEC DVD. I could not get it working using the 'Debian' way but all went well when I read the 2.6.10 Docs. /usr/src/linux/Documentation/cdrom/packet-writing.txt For creating the udf dvd I use alias UDFDVDM='pktsetup dvd /dev/hdc ; mkudffs /dev/pktcdvd/dvd ; \ mount /dev/pktcdvd/dvd /dvd -o rw,noatime' Mount then shows /dev/pktcdvd/dvd on /media/dvd type udf (rw,noatime) df shows /dev/pk~dvd/dvd 4481M 290k 4481M 0.0 [ ] /media/dvd :-) HTH, YMMV, HAND :-) Wayne

Do you have /dev/pktcdvd or only /dev/pktcdvd[0-3]? If I remember correctly I had to create /dev/pktcdvd. That was months ago so I may be mistaken. I am using the mkudffs in udftools 1.0.0b3-9 but 1.0.0b3-8 worked as well. Sorry but thats all I can think of. Wayne
