Now I would like to use also with DVD-RAM disc: I inserted in my kernel (2.4.22) udf filesystem (with write support): I inserted in /etc/fstab the following line (LG device is /dev/hda, my hard disk is /dev/sda) /dev/hda /dvdram udf noauto, sync, user 0 0 but when I run mount /dvdram I obtain: mount: block device /dev/hda is write-protected, mounting read-only mount: No medium found Can you help me? Have you tried with the Mt Rainier patch from Jens Axboe? The patch contains this comment: -- DVD-RAM write open fixes so maybe it will help. Here is an updated patch for 2.4.23-rc1. http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/patches/packet/2.4/cd-mrw-2.4.23-rc1.patc... -- Peter Osterlund - petero2@telia.com http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340
Have you formatted the disc before use? For me it works with ide-scsi emulation. I haven't tried without it yet. I also have the packet writing patch included in my kernel, but I don't know if that makes a difference. Btw., I have the GSA 4040B. Is this the same drive? If I remember right I once read that the GMA 4040B is the same as the GSA 4040B except the missing DVD-RAM support??? Regards, Ingo
