Re: ReadError "No accessrights" as root!
Hallo Rene Bartsch , [corrupted files]
Is that depending on the packet-writing module or on the file-system? i don't know. I assume, Peter thinks there is something in the packet- modul. On my first trys i get corrupted files on cdrw on both filesystems, ext2 and udf.
But on my last 2 trys (now with kernel 2.4.19-pre10), with ext2 i get no diffs compared cdrw to original, but using udf there were diffs. I used the same cdrw for all tests, reformatting between each test with mkudffs and mke2fs.
safety system. Would it help to use ext2/3 instead of UDF?
don't ask me:-). I'm trying as you are. But my backups in the moment i make using the iso-filesystem on cdrw with xcdroast or k3b. Greetings-- Email:KOALASOFT@GMX.DE
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi! i also have kernel 2.4.18mdk patched with packet for 2.4.19-pre4, and after copying the kernel source i got some files with differences.... It is with UDF, i didn't try with other FS. It fills the files with a lot of zeroes at the begining, about 2048 zeroes in one file at the beginning, in other adds 684 zeroes at the end, other file was complete fill of zeroes. The first one was about 45kb, the second and third about 3kb. I think the bug replaces 2048 bytes on the files with size more than 10kb, and replaces other amount on the files smaller, this because all the files that have more than 10kb have the first 2048 bytes with zeroes and the smaller have changing amount of zeroes at any place of the file.
