Reading DVD w/ pktcdvd module loaded causes 4GB access errors
I am using Debian unstable with a custom kernel. The kernel is patched with "packet-2.6.8-2.patch.bz2" and (unrelated, user-mode-linux) "host-skas3-2.6.9-v7.patch". Using growisofs via the raw device to create a 4.4 GB iso9660 DVD+R works fine. However, reading the files back causes kernel messages like the following to appear. attempt to access beyond end of device hdc: rw=0, want=8676824, limit=8388604 Buffer I/O error on device hdc, logical block 2169205 This causes an error to appear on reading the last few files. rmmod'ing pktcdvd and remounting the disk allows all of the files to be read. The DVD is burned as a single directory with several files in it. I am using the raw device to mount the DVD and the DVD is closed, so I would have no use further burn it. Unfortunately the other DVD-ROM drive in the system (a Toshiba SD-M1402) can't read the DVD+R so I currently don't know if that drive is affected one way or the other. The number 8388604 == (2^23) - 4 looks suspicious. Cheers, Johnny
