Try a more recent patch. If it's a bug in the patch that's causing the problem, that might fix it. The most recent patches, courtesy of Peter Osterlund IIRC, are at: http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/patches/packet/ There's one for 2.4.18-pre7 which should apply ok to your kernel. I have athlon system and try to install gcc-3.1.0 from rawhide as main compiler Now I return gcc-2.96 and try to compile kernel for Pentium II proccessor. UDF mounting ok, but when I try wrote something (I try few times) I got oops. I can't save and decode it becase kernel locked completely. oops I got when wrote becase oops got after sync.
