hi all, i am trying packet writing on a CD-R. whats the concept of writing the VAT. should the VAT be written everytime a packet is written or the VAT should be written at the end, when the disk is ejected. iam regulary updating the VAT as and when entries are added or deleted. If this question does not correspond to the exact requirements of this group, pls forgive me and ignore this mail. awaiting ur suggestion. D.Sridhar

I think DirectCD in windows only updates the VAT when the disc is unmounted (ejected). Whether this is smart or not is another question. I guess it wastes less disc space, but if the computer crashes before you unmount the disc, the disc will probably become unusable. -- Peter Osterlund - petero2@telia.com http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340
