Hello Norbert. Could you give to me more information how you achieve stable writing to UDF ? What you use ? kernel version: 2.4.17 ? ; kernel patch version: packet-2.4.18-pre4 ? ; pktcdvd options (kernel config menu) - "free buffers for data gathering": 256 ? ; - "writing cache enabled": yes ? ; hardware: IDE 4x8x32 CDRW drive (HP 9100i) ? ; ide-scsi mode for writing (SCSI emulation): yes ? ; udftools version: 1.0.0b ; UDF version for disk formatting: 1.5 ? ; formatting speed: 4x ?; CDRW mount options - noatime: yes - sync: no ? - dev: no You don't get any error like "Ignoring read error on sector:14216" stored in /var/log/messages ? Any file you can read after copying ? I need this information to understand what i'm doing wrong .. Thanks. Regards, Sergiy Kudryk.

If not, attached is a patch to cdrwtool.. -v <version> (-r is already taken)
Bingo. Thanks a lot. I made cdrwtool -q -d /dev/sr0 -v 0x0150 and after this mounted the pktcdvd0 device, copied one big (300M) and several small files onto the disc, then tried it under windows (98se) and, voila, there they are.
Thanks again!
(BTW: hp cdwriter 9100i)
Best wishes
Norbert

kernel version: 2.4.17 ? ; kernel patch version: packet-2.4.18-pre4 ? ; I tried more or less all of 2.4.17 - 2.4.18-pre8
pktcdvd options (kernel config menu) - "free buffers for data gathering": 256 ? ; yes - "writing cache enabled": yes ? ; NO
CONFIG_CDROM_PKTCDVD=m CONFIG_CDROM_PKTCDVD_BUFFERS=256 # CONFIG_CDROM_PKTCDVD_WCACHE is not set
hardware: IDE 4x8x32 CDRW drive (HP 9100i) ? ; Thats what I have. On a separate ide channel.
ide-scsi mode for writing (SCSI emulation): yes ? ; yes CONFIG_BLK_DEV_IDESCSI=y
udftools version: 1.0.0b ;
udftools-1.0.0b1.tar.gz + cdrwtool patch for adjusting the udf revision.
UDF version for disk formatting: 1.5 ? ;
yes.
formatting speed: 4x ?;
I don't care for this.
CDRW mount options - noatime: yes - sync: no ? - dev: no
pktsetup /dev/pktcdvd0 /dev/scd0
mount /dev/pktcdvd0 /udf -t udf -o rw,noatime
I do the following:
* Insert cdrw
* cdrwtool -d /dev/scd0 -q -v 0x0150
(...wait...)
* pktsetup /dev/pktcdvd0 /dev/scd0
* mount /dev/pktcdvd0 /udf -t udf -o rw,noatime
and start copying. Thats what I am doing.
Best wishes
Norbert
