Same thing with 2.4.25 + http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/patches/packet/2.4/packet-2.4.23.patch.bz... + http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/patches/packet/2.4/extra/2.4.23/p00002_cd... # cdmrw -d /dev/hdc -f full ioctl: Input/output error cdb: 51 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 24 00 00 00 buffer (36): e0 f4 ff bf f4 ae 00 40 8c 38 01 40 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 00 00 00 0a 00 28 09 04 01 00 00 00 46 00 00 28 sense: 00.00.00 read disc info failed cdmrw: failed to retrieve media status With 2.4.26-pre6 I also added http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/patches/packet/2.4/extra/2.4.23/p00003_dv... + http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/patches/packet/2.4/extra/2.4.23/p00004_dv... (just in case I buy a DVD writer) + the change from http://lists.suse.com/archives/packet-writing/2004-Mar/0034.html + the patch from http://lists.suse.com/archives/packet-writing/2004-Mar/0041.html OK, I thought the "cdrom_transfer_packet_command:" messages were from Mount Rainier, but they're in fact from the last patch. Anyway, anybody using Mount Rainier under 2.4.25 or 2.4.26-preX with the above patches ? Maybe I need -F to cdmrw ? But why does it work under 2.6 without it (besides the other problems I reported). Maybe it doesn't work if I also apply the packet patch ? I'll test it next week. sense: 00.00.00 read disc info failed cdmrw: failed to retrieve media status only appear under 2.4, but I'm worried about the ioctl: Input/output error that also appeared under 2.6.5-rc2. I did a test on Windows using InCD just to make sure my drive isn't damaged, and it seemed to work fine and much faster, but maybe the last part was just my impression since I only copied around 100Mb. Anyway, the 24x medias don't sound that good or my writer isn't very fast at reading Mount Rainier CDs, because Nero CD-DVD Speed reported an average os less than 10x for all them, while the 12x I was using with packet on the old drive have at least the double. Another thing to test. -- http://www.pervalidus.net/contact.html
