[opensuse-packaging] prefix horde apps with horde-*
Hi, what about if we prefix all horde applications with "horde-"? Example: horde -> horde imp -> horde-imp ingo -> horde-ingo ... The idea is that it is obvious to the user that a package is a horde application. This naming change would only affect the "imp" package in the distribution. If you agree with this change I could rename the horde packages in the server:php:applications buildservice project too. What do you think? I think all those separate "horde" apps should be replaced by the horde Groupware Suite, effectively having only one, useful package. -- "The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education." - Albert Einstein Cristian Rodríguez R. In my opinion it would be better to have some small packages instead of the big groupware suite. For instance some applications like kolab use horde libraries - so you have to install a "bloated" package because you just need some libs. If you want to make it easy for the users to install a complete horde suite we could simply add a meta-package which simply requires all the single packages. Ok. ;) If you want to rename the packages I dont mind ;) however make sure you use proper Provides and Obsoletes in order to make the rename transparent. -- "The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education." - Albert Einstein Cristian Rodríguez R. Now mostly all horde packages are renamed in server:php:applications. Can someone update the imp package in factory too?:) Marcus --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

Sounds like a good idea. Would even be great if you can provide a "HowTo" in the openSUSE-Wiki like it's even been there for http://en.opensuse.org/Kolab If I remember correctly, the horde* packages need some special configuration steps after installation. And so the README.SuSE can be enhanced with a link to that URL. (The INSTALL file is IMHO a bit overcrowded as most of the file is not useful if you install the rpm.) Hmm what should such a howto include? I mean installing horde is quite simple: - install it:) - start your preferred webserver - browse to localhost/horde and start configuring it I don't know if it makes sense to write a howto about configuring horde because it depends on your own needs (there are several ways to configure horde, e.g. with mysql or ldap or kolab or whatever as a backend...).
