[opensuse-packaging] Elinks: package dropping
Hi all, I am maintainer of Elinks web browser. I consider dropping it from Factory and in a second time from network/elinks because : * it has not received real updates from upstream for more than one year and a half [0] * I could not get in touch with any of the upstream developers * the project web page states that the last release is a pre release done in 2012 [1] * its bug tracking system is down [2] as well the mailing list [3] If anyone has really good reasons why I should not drop it or is interested in taking over maintainership, let me know, otherwise I will wait until the weekend and make a drop request. Gentoo has it as well at 0.12_pre6-r{1,4} with these URIs: HOMEPAGE="http://elinks.or.cz/" SRC_URI="http://elinks.or.cz/download/${MY_P}.tar.bz2" (plus some js185 patches) but it also has a elinks-0.13_pre_pre20180225 ebuild with these URIs: HOMEPAGE="http://elinks.or.cz/" EGIT_COMMIT="0dd3aaabe61fbc5ed0d9a74915678d11d00c2a1c" SRC_URI="https://github.com/rkd77/felinks/archive/${EGIT_COMMIT}.tar.gz" Someone took up the code and forked it (the HOMEPAGE should point to https://github.com/rkd77/felinks ;) You can browse the build file here for ideas: https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/tree/www-client/elinks PM me if you need help understanding the ebuild and "port" it to a spec. Sorry for late reply and thank you for the information. I did not know about 'felinks'. I will try to build it and see if it is a sane base for the elinks package. I hope that this fork is not a 'just for fun' fork and that it will be maintained.
