Alright then, i started to move my stuff over to 2.15 yesterday and did a bit this morning too, working on the platform ATM updated glib, cairo, glitz, gnome-keyring, poppler, and some more stuff to get the 2.9 branch of gtk to work still clashing on pango need to contact gcj team and make it so swing doesn't get pull as a dep of gettext.
Should i move all my stuff to /usr already ? i prefer to not screw with that now personally.

actually, there was a decision by the dist team only to change the prefix at major version updates to avoid hazzle and incompatibilities. Not sure, if this really will happen for Gnome 2 line. bye adrian -- Adrian Schroeter SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany email: adrian@suse.de --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging-help@opensuse.org

The possible GNOME move to /usr will be discussed after SLED10 release. It is not yet clean whether we will do it. It is not clean, whether GNOME3 will appear in next years. And even if it will appear, the API will be probably at least partially compatible with GNOME2. Standard GNOME applications can be compiled in SuSE with any prefix (including /usr/local) without any problems (see /etc/profile.d/gnome-filesystem.sh and /etc/profile.d/xdg-enviroment.sh, except http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95501). The prefix clash problems can occur with core GNOME and GTK+ (input methods, pango modules, gnome-vfs modules etc.), if some packages will be in /usr and some in /opt/gnome. And as I wrote in previous mail, all compatibility problems can be fixed by /opt/gnome -> /usr symlink, which is not yet possible with current RPM. -- Best Regards / S pozdravem, Stanislav Brabec software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SuSE CR, s. r. o. e-mail: sbrabec@suse.cz Drahobejlova 27 tel: +420 296 542 382 190 00 Praha 9 fax: +420 296 542 374 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging-help@opensuse.org
