[opensuse-packaging] Fwd: [opensuse-factory] openSUSE-Mozilla Plugin Finder
Hi, while I'm not sure -packaging is the right thing it appears that more of my target audience are subscribed here instead of -factory -------- Original-Nachricht -------- Betreff: [opensuse-factory] openSUSE-Mozilla Plugin Finder Datum: Wed, 16 Sep 2009 13:26:33 +0200 Von: Wolfgang Rosenauer <wolfgang@rosenauer.org> An: opensuse-factory@opensuse.org Hi, especially to maintainers of mozilla/NPAPI browser plugins. As the openSUSE/Firefox plugin finder service is basically ready to be used I need your help. (https://features.opensuse.org/306475) To fill the database of plugins which are/will be available for openSUSE 11.2 I would need some data in order to offer your plugins for installation in Firefox. I'll give you an example for what I need (Adobe Flash): RPM package name: flash-player Name: Adobe Flash Player Mimetype: application/x-shockwave-flash YMP Url: http://software.opensuse.org/ymp/openSUSE:11.2:NonFree/standard/flash-player... plugin filename: libflashplayer.so description: This package contains Adobe's Flash Plugin for the supported Web browsers in addition to a standalone flash player application The above YMP URL doesn't currently work as there is no 11.2 I already have the various Flash plugins for 11.2 and also Flash and Java for 11.1. Yes, you can also point me to the data for 11.1 as Firefox from the mozilla repository supports that feature already. The package location has to be a YMP in every case btw. Hi,
while I'm not sure -packaging is the right thing it appears that more of my target audience are subscribed here instead of -factory
The thing is I already read this at -factory, but...
As the openSUSE/Firefox plugin finder service is basically ready to be used I need your help. (https://features.opensuse.org/306475) To fill the database of plugins which are/will be available for openSUSE 11.2 I would need some data in order to offer your plugins for installation in Firefox.
I'll give you an example for what I need (Adobe Flash):
RPM package name: flash-player Name: Adobe Flash Player Mimetype: application/x-shockwave-flash YMP Url: http://software.opensuse.org/ymp/openSUSE:11.2:NonFree/standard/flash-player... plugin filename: libflashplayer.so description: This package contains Adobe's Flash Plugin for the supported Web browsers in addition to a standalone flash player application
The above YMP URL doesn't currently work as there is no 11.2
I already have the various Flash plugins for 11.2 and also Flash and Java for 11.1. Yes, you can also point me to the data for 11.1 as Firefox from the mozilla repository supports that feature already. The package location has to be a YMP in every case btw.
I would say 99% of what is needed is Java and Flash, that you already have, and multimedia. For multimedia Packman has most the plugins: vlc-mozillaplugin, xine-browser-plugin, mplayerplug-in and gecko-mediaplayer. The main openSUSE repo also has totem-plugin. YMP URLs can be obtained from http://packages.opensuse-community.org... but I have my doubts these YMPs are persistent (the same about http://software.opensuse.org/search). The most important plugin is gecko-mediaplayer. It can use any media player that supports an specific D-BUS interface... that right now only gnome-mplayer (that requires MPlayer) supports. Note that home:RedDwarf has it packaged, but in no way it's a supported package. Even if right now it's outdated Packman should be used. If I don't miss any MIME type (created manually)... RPM package name: gecko-mediaplayer Name: gecko-mediaplayer Mimetype: video/divx video/vnd.divx YMP Url: ???? plugin filename: gecko-mediaplayer-dvx.so description: RPM package name: gecko-mediaplayer Name: gecko-mediaplayer Mimetype: video/quicktime video/x-quicktime image/x-quicktime video/quicktime video/quicktime application/x-quicktimeplayer YMP Url: ???? plugin filename: gecko-mediaplayer-qt.so description: RPM package name: gecko-mediaplayer Name: gecko-mediaplayer Mimetype: audio/x-pn-realaudio application/vnd.rn-realmedia application/vnd.rn-realaudio video/vnd.rn-realvideo audio/x-realaudio audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin application/smil YMP Url: ???? plugin filename: gecko-mediaplayer-rm.so description: RPM package name: gecko-mediaplayer Name: gecko-mediaplayer Mimetype: application/asx video/x-ms-asf-plugin video/x-msvideo video/msvideo application/x-mplayer2 application/x-ms-wmv video/x-ms-asf video/x-ms-wm video/x-ms-wmv audio/x-ms-wmv video/x-ms-wmp application/x-ms-wmp video/x-ms-wvx audio/x-ms-wax audio/x-ms-wma application/x-drm-v2 audio/wav audio/x-wav YMP Url: ???? plugin filename: gecko-mediaplayer-wmp.so description: RPM package name: gecko-mediaplayer Name: gecko-mediaplayer Mimetype: audio/x-mpegurl video/mpeg audio/mpeg video/x-mpeg video/x-mpeg2 audio/mpeg audio/x-mpeg audio/mpeg2 audio/x-mpeg2 audio/mp4 audio/x-mp4 video/mp4 video/x-m4v video/3gpp audio/mpeg3 audio/x-mpeg3 audio/x-mpegurl audio/mp3 application/x-ogg application/ogg audio/x-ogg audio/ogg video/x-ogg video/ogg audio/flac audio/x-flac video/fli video/x-fli video/x-flv video/flv video/vnd.vivo audio/x-matroska video/x-matroska application/x-nsv-vp3-mp3 audio/x-mod audio/x-aiff audio/basic audio/x-basic audio/midi audio/x-scpls YMP Url: ???? plugin filename: gecko-mediaplayer.so description: Then there is also moonlight-plugin with MIME type application/x-silverlight. The version from Packman links against libavcodec, not sure about what the openSUSE version can do... neither I'm sure we can force an specific version to be installed with just an YMP. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

The YMPs I'm currently using should be "supported" I've been told. I hope that's the case. I agree that many interesting plugins are not in Factory but for example in packman. I need to ask there for "stable" YMPs and the data for popular plugins. Thanks for the gecko-mediaplayer information.
Then there is also moonlight-plugin with MIME type application/x-silverlight. The version from Packman links against libavcodec, not sure about what the openSUSE version can do... neither I'm sure we can force an specific version to be installed with just an YMP.
I tend to point to the most complete package even if it's from packman. Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

You should ask Benji about the current state. But IIRC in an YMP file you can specify repositories and packages... but that does *not* mean the packages will be installed from these repositories. First the repositories are added with a fixed priority (default == 99?) and from that point YaST2-Pkg-Bindings installs the packages without looking at the YMP at all, the selected packages depend of other repo priorities, possible vendor changes, etc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org
