[opensuse-packaging] Can't build packages locally - what's going on?
I'm confused. I've tried to build 3 packages and none are working. The complaint I notice is about permissions for /dev/null. Three examples of what is failing right now: osc co /home:gregfreemyer:Tools-for-forensic-boot-cd calc cd /home:gregfreemyer:Tools-for-forensic-boot-cd/calc osc build osc co security:forensics dc3dd cd security:forensics/dc3dd osc build osc co openSUSE:Leap:42.1:Update libewf cd openSUSE:Leap:42.1:Update/libewf osc build --local Greg -- Greg Freemyer -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

In case the chroot is in /dev/shm, put this into fstab and reboot:
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
Don't abuse /dev/shm as general purpose dumping ground. As the name implies it's for shared memory. Put tmpfs on /tmp if you need that or use /run instead. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.com/ SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

Hmm... I was working on a Leap 42.1 machine I don't normally build on, but I definitely have in the past. (May have been a few months since I did). I just tried on the system in my lab and it worked fine, so it is a problem with that one machine. I don't intentionally use /dev/shm. The machine with the failure is a VM with limited resources. I have a GB free on both /home and /, but maybe one of them is running out during the build?
