[opensuse-packaging] New home for the Chromium webbrowser
I would like to inform you that the Chromium webbrowser will be moved within the next few days to it's new development project network:chromium. This will mean that the package will no longer be residing in the Contrib projects nor in my home proejct (home:rwooninck:chromium). Today I have send the last update to openSUSE:xxxx:Contrib for Chromium which should resolve the latest issue with regards to a missing sandbox client. As soon as this is published, I will disable the build of this project in Contrib and 1 week later(if there are no objections) the package will be removed from the Contrib repo's. Any other updates will be done in the network:chromium repo, where Chromium is build for openSUSE versions 11.3, 11.4, Factory and Tumbleweed. The ultimate target would be to submit Chromium to Factory. In my case, it now starts but the UI is constantly blocking and the "close" (the "x" sign) on tabs do not work :-| -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

Since yesterday an updated version 15.0.854 could be found in Contrib that resolves the issue indicated with regards to the missing sandbox client. However it seems that this 15.0.854 introduced two more issues that have been reported as a bug. The fist issue is that the tab close buttons are not working. (This was reported as bug 93086 and bug 93480). The second issue is that this version is very slow as reported in bug report 93401. A newer build 15.0.857 is available which resolves the issue with regards to the tab buttons. Unfortunately this build still has the slower performance and cpu hogging from time to time. As that Chromium is moving to a different OBS repository, this newer build will not be available through the Contrib repositories. Publishing is enabled for the new repo network:chromium Regards Raymond -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

Also the cause of the issue mentioned above has been resolved. It was caused by the way that libv8 package was build. This has now been corrected and an update should be available later today from the Chromium repo. As that many users have been affected by this. I also pushed the update to the Contrib repo to make sure that everyone has a working Chromium webbrowser. The issues regarding the missing sandbox client have been resolved. This client is now build and installed as indicated in those posts. However I do not see any of the cpu hogging on my machine, but this could be that I do not have any add-ons installed. I have noticed the missing functionality to close the tabs by clicking on the X. I assume that this is caused by a snapshot on the wrong time and I have started to create a newer snapshot that hopefully resolves also this problem. Once that this last issue has been resolved, I will enable the network:chromium repo to be published and only then I will start with the removal of the package in the Contrib repo and in my own home project. The project is currently set to "do not publish". Could you publish the binaries, please?
