In the discussion about a non-rpm controlled /etc I missed the migration path for files changed by the admin. Is there a proposal about how a disappeared '%config /path' or '%config(noreplace) /path' is supposed to be handled? If not, here is my idea how it could be done.
The most simple thing would be to mark the files in /etc as %ghost in the new package. rpm won't touch the files at all then.
With the disadvantage, that, even if the admin did never touch the file, the old config continues to exist in /etc and the new one in /usr/etc will not be used.
Yes. Choose your poison. Personally I'm not in favor of any kind of extra scripting. If this case is important it would be better to implement something in rpm to deal with the situation automatically. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.com/ SUSE Software Solutions Germany GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer HRB 247165 (AG München) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org
