Hi, I like to ask if you have found your kernel guy to integrate Con Kolivas patches to OpenSuSE Super kernel? I have been toying with kernel 5 five years now. I work at small firm that develops embedded linux machines and I have been compiling kernel to ARM, PowerPC, SPARC and x86 (example VIA) machines. I've been also compiled binary RPMS for our firm use (We commonly use SuSE for our develoment). They can be found at http://tuukka.pasanen.net/programs/kernel/index.htm. So if vacation is open I can be interested in that:) Only problem is I read bit german (I've been working there a while) but I can't write or speak it. So I can't get along with forum and stuff.. Con Kolivas himself has actually done the work. He will be integrating his patches with the SUSE kernel. Just today I have created some rpm's you can find under http://opensuse.linux.co.nz/ftp/pub/SUPER/files/ kernel-default-2.6.13-15.SUPER.i586.rpm kernel-default-nongpl-2.6.13-15.SUPER.i586.rpm Bot kernels include Con Kolivas's patches. If you can all have a try and give me feedback. Once I have feedback I will be announcing it more widely. Andreas

Let's get the patches into the Linus kernel. There's time until our next release and I really like to see patches going into the official Linus kernel instead of only into the SUSE ones, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
Hi Andreas I think Linus's official answer I read on new schedulers is currently NO .... I can vaguely remember a kernel mailinglist post a year or so back about the CK patches, the staircase scheduler (with some interesting test results) ...... I sure would love to see Con's patches in the official Linus kernel, but der Zug ist abgefahren? Maybe you can use your influences with Linus to enquire about it? Andreas

This has to be done the Linus way - convince the Linux kernel developers... Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
