I am unable to get a linux box to get name lookups (either in the LAN or on the Internet) when I get the IP address from a DHCP server. I currently have 6 Suse 10/samba file servers running in 6 different networks. All of them get IP addresses from a DHCP server of some sort (most use a broadband router for that). The linux machines can see and interact with other linux or windows machines on the LAN if I use an IP address (or if I put the IP & host Name in /etc/hosts). The windows machines can all see the linux boxes by host name. The linux machines also can't find anything on the Internet. The machines are doing a fine job of being PDC's & file servers, but the fact that they are blind to the world around them is limiting (and intellectually frustrating).
