Hello, I contacted Josh (the musician author of the music I already used for the clip - CC-BY only), to see if I could have an openSUSE specific music. Here the answer (I follow the contact) jdd De : Josh Woodward Pour : jdd Hey Jean-Daniel! I'm not sure about that - I'm an Ubuntu guy, so I'm not sure that's allowed. ;-) Just kidding of course, but I'm honored. What did you have in mind for the music? Style, length, mood, etc. No promises, but I'll definitely see what I can come up with. Thanks! I try to make video tutorials and to have a high level of quality. Until now it's only a try :-). A good video have to use some sort of music. Having at the moment no budget, I browsed Jamendo and found your music with CC-BY licence. So I used one on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07pryArO_wM (see credits on the end). This one video is still private (not yet validated by the team, first draft). I personnally think openSUSE should have a music of it's own, that could be as recognisable as the chameleon logo you probably know if ever you got any interest to Linux (not mandatory :-). So I look for a music composer that could make some music for us. As I said, I have at the moment no budget, so the only thing I can promise is to give credit. I seek for music, not voices (but why not a "chameleon" song?) If the project goes well, this could mean a fairly high number of hits,,. openSUSE is not a small project (see www.opensuse.org <http://www.opensuse.org>). Well before going further, are you interested by some form of cooperation? sincerely Jean-Daniel Dodin (jdd) -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xgxog7_clip-l-ombre-et-la-lumiere-3-bad-pig... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGgv_ZFtV14 -- *Josh Woodward* - http://JoshWoodward.com/ <http://www.joshwoodward.com/> [Twitter <http://joshw.org/twitter> · Facebook <http://joshw.org/facebook> · MySpace <http://joshw.org/myspace> · YouTube <http://joshw.org/youtube>] -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-multimedia+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-multimedia+help@opensuse.org

yes, I know. I had just to pick one :-) - I choosed this one because I like his music and it's licence is CC-BY (I don't really know how SA works for us) and what I try to have is an original music specially for openSUSE, shouldn't this be smart? jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xgxog7_clip-l-ombre-et-la-lumiere-3-bad-pig... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGgv_ZFtV14 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-multimedia+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-multimedia+help@opensuse.org

SA for media files works like the GPL for software: to redistribute them you must use the same or compatible license. CC-BY-SA is an allowed license for media files in the KDE project: http://techbase.kde.org/Policies/Licensing_Policy Following this policy, the bundled songs in KMid2 source package are licensed under the CC-BY-SA or GPLv2. That is initiative! Hopefully he doesn't require exclusive contract :) One of Pedro's links: http://lam.fugal.net/ gives this: http://www.musically.me.uk/music/Of_Fairies_And_The_Heffalump.ogg which led to: http://www.musically.me.uk/ Will Godfrey's Music. Nice instrumentals. License is also nice: CC-BY-NC-SA http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/ (2 weeks ago I can't say that I was thinking much about licenses, but on the other hand I did not think about publishing anything too :) -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-multimedia+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-multimedia+help@opensuse.org

NC is non free and SA is problematic for a video clip :-( jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xgxog7_clip-l-ombre-et-la-lumiere-3-bad-pig... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGgv_ZFtV14 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-multimedia+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-multimedia+help@opensuse.org

NC here means NOT 'primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or private monetary compensation.' I'd suggest to contact the original author, and see if he approves our use case. One could argue that our primary intend is noncommercial. Why is SA problematic? Publish the video-clip under the same license, put the needed URLs in the trailer. Sounds doable to me. cheers, JW- -- o \ Juergen Weigert paint it green! __/ _=======.=======_ <V> | jw@suse.de back to ascii! __/ _---|____________\/ \ | 0911 74053-508 __/ (____/ /\ (/) | _____________________________/ _/ \_ vim:set sw=2 wm=8 SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg) SuSE.
