tv-card configuration in Suse 9.1
Hi all, Yesterday I did a clean install of Suse 9.1. My tv-card (Pinnacle PCTV) did get recognized properly and I could watch television on my pc. The problem I had was that I didn't have any sound. I tried different sound settings from the configuration panel in kdetv, but it wouldn't work. This morning when I turned on my computer I couldn't watch tv anymore. The appropriate device (bt878) was no longer in the list under "Devices" in kdetv. I removed the card from the configuration center and added it again. When I tried to scan for channels I got an error message saying that /dev/video0 doesn't exist. How can I fix it and how do I get sound? Kind regards, Bert Meersma
Known problem... Off the top of my head... Do YAST online updates... Delete TV card form configureation (if it's there)... Delete sound card (has same problesm) reboot (Probably not necesary) reinestall TV Card and Sound card with Yast... Jerry On Sun, 2004-06-06 at 11:35, Bert Meersma wrote:

Hello Bert, By scanning the SuSE-multimedia-e I found out that you had a problem very similar to mine. I submitted a bug report 90802 to dziegel@gmx.de. I would be interested if you found out the reason, why sound does not work under SuSE 9.1, whereas the identical hardware constellation works fine under the dual boot Windows ME. Might be, that you meanwhile found out, what the reason of the persistent sound muteness was. In that case we could easen the job of Dirk Ziegelmeier, who supervises the development of KDETV. Thank you for a quick answer, be it positive or negative. Guenter Krieg

Hi, same for me. Well, not exactly the same. At first I get all working well, even sound. But after I rebooted, device bt878 was no longer loaded. I removed the card and added it again. No go. I get error saying that /dev/video0 doesn't exist. -- AV SuSE 9.1 Pro RLU #128180
