Subject: [SLE] ATI 9800 All In Wonder Radeon video capture card -- working for anyone? Date: Friday 02 January 2004 04:08 pm From: <jfweber@bellsouth.net> To: suse-linux-e@suse.com
Hi, gang.
I'm thinking of buying an ATI 9800 All In Wonder Radeon video capture card. Unfortunately ATI does not support Linux, and their customer service dept. could not provide any assurance that the card would work.
Does anyone have this card running properly? Did it work out of the box or did you need to obtain additional drivers? If additional drivers were needed where did you find them?
Any suggestions or assistance is greatly appreciated. This card is too expensive to buy without first knowing it's going to work. Thx. J

I have it but no luck. DRI isn't supported, TV in isn't supported, nothing seems to be with the exception of the base card itself. If you plan on doing TV stuff go to mythtv.sourceforge.net (or maybe myth.sourceforge.net) and check that out. Some where in the list of things you'll get turned on to another TV in/out project, freevo I think, and they have a good hardware database to use. But in short mostly any card with a brooktree interface (bt) will work also somem, if not most, of the Hauppage cards will work. I say most because you don't want to use the USB stuff, from what I can tell. I'm thinking of chucking my ATI all in blunder card for nVidia and a Hauppauge PVR 250 and using MythTV. HTH
