Hi everybody! I have a small problem. I've converted to Linux/Unix completely except for one thing, multitrack sound recordning. Now I found Ardour and it seems as it could replace the software I'm using in MS and would thus allow me to completely convert from Windows. Firstly I found out that Ardour is included in 8.1 but not in 8.2. (I'm running 8.2). Then I found Ardour for 8.2 at http://apt.bygden.nu/SuSE/8.2-i386/RPMS.suse-people/ which I installed. Everything went fine but when I try to run Ardour (after running jackd), it starts up but crashes after about 2 seconds giving the error message: ardour: relocation error: ardour: undefined symbol: jack_set_xrun_callback I googled for the error message but couldn't find almost any info about it. So now to my questions: 1. Does anyone have experience in running Ardour on 8.2? 2. Are there any other software that equals Ardour? kim

I've got no experience with ardour, but i did some searching for you (i had nothing better to do) and found these 2 site's you might want to take a look at: http://ardour.sourceforge.net/ardour_faq.txt http://myweb.cableone.net/eviltwin69/ALSA_JACK_ARDOUR.html Good luck, Chris Maaskant.
Hi Kim, Again, have no experience with the particular software, but sounds like your RPMs are incompatible. Don't know if this ardour is an open-source tool, if so - try to recompile it on your system - this should help against "undefined symbol" crashes... Good luck Eduard --- Kim Fredenberg <kim.fredenberg@softalabra.com> wrote:

Hi Eduard, thanks, that solved my problem, well actually not compiling it but when I ran configure I noticed I had an too old version of jackd (0.50... requires 0.66...). I installed a newer version of jack and now ardour is running nicely. Now I only need to learn how to use it :) Kim On Friday 12 September 2003 15:33, you wrote:
