Hi, I was trying to search the hardware database for supported DVD burners/writers. Under the 'extended search' the 'Category' - 'Storage devices' does not include DVD writers. Are there any supported DVD writer's in SUSE 9.3? Yup, all of them so far as I know, at least the dual layers ones and "normal" ones. I'm not certain about the newest variants of extra high density versions, but they are still $1ks ( US) so I suspect you aren't asking about the newest Sony, Philips, Motorola etc.. ;) -- j See ya Space Cowboy
I'm using an ARTEC IDE DVD/CD-RW drive to burn CD's with on SuSE 9.2 pro. The drive is also a DVD writer, but I have not tested that part of it yet. I guess most IDE DVD writers should work OK under Linux. You can use K3b to burn audio and data CD's, and also data DVD's. To burn multimedia DVD's I think you have to pay for an extension to do that. Among the other answers here - I've never even configured a DVD writer. I've got Emprex, Dell (whatever), and several other models working on various SUSE machines. As mentioned - you may need codecs to write your multimedia to DVD, but the hardware should not be an issue. -- kai ponte www.perfectreign.com
