What webcam for Linux?
Hi all. I'm running SuSE 8.1 pro and would like to get a webcam. Can anyone recommend a webcam that will work under SuSE 8.1 pro, and that will continue to work when I upgrade to 9.2 pro or higher releases? Logitech may work with SuSE 8.1 and the pcw/pcwx driver. There seems to be a problem with this driver being a part of the kernel. Please see http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/ for the related discussiom. Will SuSE be producing a custom kernel to continue supporting the pwcx driver as a binary module? Kind Regards - Keith Roberts http://www.karsites.net/
I s anybody aware of anywhere I could find a list of Linux compatible webcams (more precisely Suse Linux 9.2) as my Creative Webcam Nx has done my brain in and I am ready to smash it into pieces. Thank you
What package are you going to use to access it? mplayer / mencoder videolanclient etc. I would check the info for whatever package you want to use to see what it was deveoped for / with and get the same thing.... know what I mean? B-) On Wednesday 17 November 2004 11:04 am, Banshee wrote:

Hello there, Don't throw away the creative nx, this driver works (at least for me on 9.1). http://zc0302.sourceforge.net/zc0302.php The developers have a channel named '#zc030x' on irc.freenode.net. It was helpful to me. You have to checkout form cvs : You should follow the instructions here : http://zc0302.sourceforge.net/zc0302.php?page=download 1. make sure you have cvs installed ( use yast2 to install it if not) 2. create a directory for the driver files 3. issue the first command : cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/zc0302 login 4. just hit enter when prompted for a password 5. issue the second command : cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/zc0302 co -r R-0_0_1-bugfixes zc030x then it's ./configure, make and make install Cheers, Alexandre On Wednesday 17 November 2004 13:04, Banshee wrote:
