I am unable to shutdown the system completely, has anyone got any idea ?? It goes all the way to System now halting .. but it does not do it.
It does exactly what it's saying: halting, i.e. not doing anything. Flick the switch.
Alternatively, type poweroff instead of halt.

Hi, I'm using SuSE 7.2 and I use the command "shutdown -h 0" which both halts the system and powers off. Give it a try, it may also work for you.
