Please accept my appologises for the very long period of silence. I've been working hard to repair a dead server, then school started. Bad excuses, I'm sorry. Ok.. Regarding your questions about the sound... The sound works nice with XMMS, with mplayer, etc. All the entries in the sound mixer were enabled, and they have decent volume levels. None is muted. Inside the PC, there is a cable which connects the tvtunner with the soundcard. The very same hardware works with sound without problems, in Windows. Btw, the friend, who is a priest, thanks all of the SuSE team and congrats them, he likes his new replacement for Windows. He asked me to mention that. So, furthermore, I don't know what else could be wrong.. Defenately, something is.. Thanks David. After a *lot* of googling, this is what I found: #/sbin/chkconfig --list sound sound: unknown service #/sbin/chkconfig --list alsa alsa: unknown service Might have to do with that. xawtv shows the same problem. XMMS and mplayer work nice on playing .avi and .mp3s. Hi Anton, I'm adding several more folks to this reply since they seem to have various sound related tv card problems as well. I have installed a tv card under SuSE 9.1 Pro on two computers with different sound cards. I have had exactly one problem and it was related to midi and upgrading from SuSE 7.3 to 9.1. A quick trip to the module configuration file took care of the midi problem. One computer (sitting now without tv card is awaiting reformat) has a SBLive sound card, the other one (this one I'm on) has an INTEL 810 onboard. Sorry for the delay in my reply, been busy with work and haven't done much play. What sound card, what mixer, and what does the mixer say the sound card is? You also might want to check the tv card's audio out to see if it is producing any. The mixer on the tv card is under the control of the tv application through the bttv drivers. I'm still rather tied up with work type stuff so it may take a couple days for me to answer. I need to get away from the one eyed monster. Cheers, Dave PS: I work from home and am trying to rework the guts of a 4.8GB website. Anton Alin-Adrian wrote:
