Hi, I am traying to modified and play some midi music in my linux box, I have seen JAZZ may be a great option to do this so I decided to install it and use it, I have been able to modified the midi files but I cant play the files. I have to use Kmid from kde to play them. I have installed SuSE Linux 7.1 ,Kernel 2.2.18 Alsa drivers (modules) ENS1371 -> Sound Blaster PCI 128 and the computer is: AMD K7 850 mhz, 128 MB RAM JAZZ version: JAZZ++ version 4.1.7 Executing JAZZ When I look in the track window menu in Settings/Midi Device: the input device is: External MIDI 0 MIDI 0-0 the output devive is: External MIDI 0 MIDI 0-0 I think in the output device there should be another option like sound card midi. here is a layout of lsmod : Module Size Used by ppp_deflate 40352 0 (autoclean) bsd_comp 4080 0 (autoclean) ppp 21232 1 (autoclean) [ppp_deflate bsd_comp] slhc 4448 0 (autoclean) [ppp] snd-pcm-oss 18288 0 (autoclean) snd-pcm-plugin 14032 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss] snd-mixer-oss 4544 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss] snd-seq-midi 4144 2 (autoclean) snd-seq-midi-event 2896 0 (autoclean) [snd-seq-midi] snd-card-ens1371 2176 2 (autoclean) snd-ens1371 12880 0 (autoclean) [snd-card-ens1371] snd-pcm 35296 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss snd-pcm-plugin snd-ens1371] snd-rawmidi 10624 2 (autoclean) [snd-seq-midi snd-ens1371] snd-ac97-codec 27168 0 (autoclean) [snd-ens1371] snd-mixer 28624 0 (autoclean) [snd-mixer-oss snd-ens1371 snd-ac97-codec] snd-seq 42912 1 (autoclean) [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-midi-event] snd-timer 10688 1 (autoclean) [snd-pcm snd-seq] snd-seq-device 4080 0 (autoclean) [snd-seq-midi snd-rawmidi snd-seq] snd 43632 4 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss snd-pcm-plugin snd-mixer-oss snd-seq-midi snd-seq-midi-event snd-card-ens1371 snd-ens1371 snd-pcm snd-rawmidi snd-ac97-codec snd-mixer snd-seq snd-timer snd-seq-device] soundcore 2576 5 (autoclean) [snd] ipv6 100080 -1 (autoclean) ne 6544 2 (autoclean) 8390 6272 0 (autoclean) [ne] may be you could help me, thanks a lot. __________________________________________________ __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? You will need to use some softsynth or connect something to the midi port, since your soundcard hasn't got any midi capabilities. Kmid uses a softsynth. Op maandag 12 mei 2003 01:42, schreef Peter Smith:
