Mencoder/MPlayer avi file on external reader YAMADA DVX6000
Hello, SuSE-8.2 I have very nice avi files encoded with latest CVS from Mencoder/MPlayer. Very nice images on my AMD-2000 PC even when encoding from TV output. Problem though with YAMADA DVX6000 reader: - corrupted sound (have to try several times to have nice sound) Pause/Forward/backward don't work correctly - nice image though. Question: does anyone in the list have some experience with avi files on DiVX readers? If yes which one? Problems? Solutions? YAMADA DVX6000? Thanks, -- Alain Barthélemy cassandre@bartydeux.be http://bartydeux.be Linux User #315631

I had some bad experience with Yamada DVX6000, seems like the decoder chip gets overheated rather soon and you start having problems. Everytime at turn-on it's completely ok, and depending on how heavy the file is for playing it starts giving problems 1-5 minutes past... Didn't really see any decent stationary DivX player (tryed also Scott). Good luck anyway ,-) Eduard __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Hi Eduard, Thanks for the good luck. Hopefully I have a nice image on my PC. My sound codec is mp3 (mp3lame) but I have no problem with a avi file my son gave me (encoded with?) encoded with wma. Normally the YAMADA reader is compatible with mp3 (should be at least). My main problem is at turn-on. I have to start it on several times before having a correct sound. Now I try the Divx 4 codec with an mp3 audio bitrate of 96 kbps. @+ -- Alain Barthélemy cassandre@bartydeux.be http://bartydeux.be Linux User #315631
