How to disable 'dmix' for Terratec DMX 6Fire (ice1712)?
Hi! I have a Terratec DMX 6Fire (ice1712 chipset) card, unfortunately the sound is very choppy (in Banshee) and often the sound stream stops.
From previous experience I know that the card works fine without alsa 'dmix' and thus I would like to disable it.
I've tried to add the following line to .asoundrc: pcm.!default "plughw" as suggested by https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=114745 But the sound still crackles a lot. Anyone have any idea? /Thomas --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-multimedia+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-multimedia+help@opensuse.org

Ya, thunderbird sometimes does threads and sometimes has problems with them Heres and example of what the threads should look like [opensuse-multimedia] Can't get Kmail to keep threads option John | -> [opensuse-multimedia] Can't get Kmail to keep threads option Tom | -> [opensuse-multimedia] Can't get Kmail to keep threads option Mary Here's and example of Highjacking: [opensuse-multimedia] How to disable 'dmix' for Terratec DMX Thomas | -> [opensuse-multimedia] Play all videos avi , mpg ,avi , divx. Ishtiaque Threading in posts helps keep coherency and sets all message replies to the original post in a connected string. This way one can track the sequence of responses. This is especially helpful on help and technical lists since there are often many different ways to solve a problem and it also helps others following the "thread" of the conversation. In Kmail (and many others) there's an option to set the view to threaded - in Kmail it's in the "Folder" options on the top toolbar. Not sure where it is in Thunderbird. As you can see from the two examples, the 1st has the message threaded and they show the appropriate sequence of replies - if one were to go to the SuSE list archives to search for a solution they would easily be able to "track" the conversation and therefore more easily find a solution. In the 2nd example - Highjacking - the thread is broken because (in this case yourself) replied to message about "dmix" config in the ".asoundrc" file to config user alsa options, but have changed the subject of the thread to a Video codec/config question. Furthermore, Thomas Eriksson's post has not been answered because the conversation has change to your topic and away from his. This happens because you likely hit the "reply to" button instead of "new" or "new post/mail" button. Hence you sent a "replay" to his post but (and many get very upset with this) have highjacked his question. Instead your post compared to the original should be like this: [opensuse-multimedia] How to disable 'dmix' for Terratec DMX 6Fire (ice1712)? | -> Reply to original post about dmix for Terratec | -> Reply to original post about dmix for Terratec | -> Reply to original post about dmix for Terratec | -> repeat as necessary [opensuse-multimedia] Play all videos avi , mpg ,avi , divx.......... | -> Reply to original post about Play all videos.... | -> Reply to original post about Play all videos.... | -> Reply to original post about Play all videos.... | -> repeat as necessary HTH, Curtis. -- Spammers Beware: Trespassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again! Please don't "highjack" threads. The original post was " How to disable 'dmix' for Terratec DMX 6Fire (ice1712)?" And your post is titled "Play all videos avi , mpg ,avi , divx..........". By highjacking the original post/thread you end up kludging the archives. Many search the archives to find answers to problems that others have had with the same issue and when searching in this way, posts that highjack break the string and make these searches very hard - if not impossible. Please repost and don't just reply to a previous post that has nothing to do with your subject - if you're not viewing you mail inbox in threaded format - try it and see what happens. Thank you. Cheers, Curtis. -- Spammers Beware: Trespassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again! I don't want a politician I can believe in.
