Re: [suse-multimedia-e] I want to play vcd on my SuSE 8
Oh....please help me my friend.....I am in trouble.
I've tried to find the package of xine on my SuSE 8
cd. But I could not find it. I've tried with YaST2 to
find that but I could not find it. If I use "Xine" or
"xine" as the keyword than I only find "xinetd". I am
sure that was a wrong package because what I need is
"xine" package.
I've download the package from sourge homepage and
tried to install it and to make it easier I was using
kpakcage, but than I didn't succeeded it. The error
message that I found was :
"exec failed: No such file or directory".
Is xine not for SuSE distribution ? I want to use SuSE
8 and KDE 3 not other Linux Distributions and not
GNOME.
Please tell me what I should do ?
Thank you very much in advance.

Hello,
Don't use XMovie for VCD's, it only surports AVI and MOV I think?
Use "Xine", I use this myself it's very good.

Hi Prabu I would suggest you download the rpms available here: http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/~jcm/skyblade/ These include various plugins, and were built on SuSE Linux, so they work well (in my experience). Try them and then post any problems you meet. Best wishes Kevin On Thursday 09 May 2002 5:34 pm, Prabu Subroto wrote:

Hi, Sorry, I thought the xine packages came with the SuSE Distribution (They did in 7.2). Tim On Thu, 09 May 2002 1:28 pm, Kevin Donnelly wrote:

Yes you're right.... The rpms installation were
succeeded very easily... but strange....
after I execute "xine&"
My SuSE 8 linux stopped.....Hang up.
I even could not do anything anymore.... I had to pull
off my power cable to restart my computer....
What was my mistake....
I don't need to install dvd plugin because I do not
have DVD drive.
The configuration of my computer is :
Pentium III 600 MHz, RAM 192 MB and my graphic card is
16 MB.
Please tell me what I have to do, my friend....
Thank you very much in advance.
