I haven't been able to compile MPlayer-1.0pre7 in Suse 10.0, it says something about gcc version. I tried xine-lib-1.0.3a, too with no succes at all. Do I have to try a different gcc version, a few more programs I can't recall right now won't compile either, (I think I also tried vidix-0.9.9.1 and mplayerxp-0.5.1). I would appreciate any idea, I'm just another newbie. Thanx in advance.

Try to download and compile the latest CVS version of MPlayer. IIRC it will build on SUSE 10.

Basically you can't compile MPlayer cause of gcc version 4.0 that comes with suse 10.0 But you can compile the cvs version using the --disable-gcc-checking during ./configure __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I ended up using MPlayer-1.0pre7try2.tar.bz2 with ffmpeg It seems to compile rather straight forward after that with SUSE 10.0 Luis Rodriguez Gil wrote:

I just installed mplayer and friends from the packman repo, and I was good to go in 5 minutes - apt-get install MPlayer I was really looking forward to spending hours downloading files, tweaking configs and trying to get things compiled, but I wanted to watch some videos, so no time for tinkering.... If you search with Google, you can find MPlayer-1.0pre7-pm.3.i686.rpm and libmad-0.15.1b-3.1.fc1.fr.i386.rpm and libmp3lame-3.95.1-1.athlon.rpm (of course, if you have another cpu, try that one) Apparently all three are needed before mplayer is able to load. But all three can be installed with Yast. I had some strange trouble with libmp3lame though. Yast could not find it! So I unpacked de library it contains by hand, rename it (remove .0.0), that did the trick. But my goal was to be able to view my ASF-videos I made with my digital camera. and I have still no luck. greets Marc -- XS2Mail: Check your mail anywhere http://www.xs2mail.com/
