Problems setting up my CD and CDRW. I'm running SuSE 9.1, with a SCSI HD. (which complicates things. I think it puts the ide-scsi on a second scsi bus) After the install, k3b searches and searches. Finds nothing. Does not build its GUI. After I add hda=ide-scsi and hdb=ide-scsi to the System > Boot Loader Configuration > Default Section > Linux k3b will search, and will the build its GUI, but no CD or CDRW is available, and KDE complains "cannot enter folder /media/cdrom" when the cdrom icon is clicked (same for the CDRECORDER icon). I do believe that I am supposed to make link in /dev along the lines of ln -s sr0 cdrom and also one for the cdrecorder. I have randomed around and not stumbled on the magic combination. If you hold the open sesame, let me know what it is. Thanks, Conrad --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail is new and improved - Check it out!

Conrad, I'm not quite sure what caused your problem, did you do a clean install? 9.1 found both my real scsi cdrom and the ide(-scsi) dvdrecorder.. k3b is not only running okay from the start ( well from the first update anyway. I didn't watch to see what it updated. ) There is also an updated k3b on packman ( recent update ) which you might try. -- j -- nemo me impune lacessit
