I'm trying to get Skype (Internet-telefony) working properly. Reception is fine, but my counterpartners hardly hear me. In Kmix MIC is at maximum and the red button switched on. I hear myself loudly through the speakers, but I am Hardly heared. Settings under soundsystem are: ALSA; full duplex, sample rate 48000 HZ, standard quality, soundsystem active, realtine priority, 8 fragments 2048 bytes. Does anyone have an advice how to enhance the volume of the microphone ? Thanks, Rene
Have you tried pulling at the slider(s) in YaST/hardware/sound/volume? I'm not sure about how those and the ones in KMix relate. Do you have another PC that you could use for the other end - to verify that the problem is not at the other end? I tried Skype a couple months ago from my SuSE 9.2 to a Windows box and got no complaints. Besides, I'm impressed how well it works - it was just like talking on a regular phone. Try using gamix instead of kmix. If your sound card supports it, you will notice a push-button for "mike boost", that punches about 20db gain to the mike. I have not tried Skype yet, so can't help ya there... On Thu, 2005-03-17 at 21:18 -0800, Claus Olesen wrote:
