Hi John, Try to use xawtv (or motv if you like it more) to see if your camera is really attached or not. SuSE 7.3 sets up modules.conf in a way you don't need to add anything more. Also try to see in /var/log/messages (or dmesg) if the module recognizes the camera or not... Same with gnomeeting - if your /dev/video is alive, you should see the picture... Good luck :) Eduard --- "John C. Craig" <JohnCraig01@netscape.net> wrote:
Hi,
I just bought a color USB Quickcam, and installed SuSE 7.3 Pro. After modprobe mod_quickcam.o the module loads, then in /proc/bus/usb/devices I can see some reference to a camera (although I don't recognize any model information, it is all cryptic codes).
What do I need to do to get it working as 1) a webcam and 2) a
videoconferencing camera (with Gnome Meeting, for example)?
I am guessing it will involve making a node at char-major-81 or something like that, plus, what additional software do I need to install?
Thanks John
