Here is what I read in the perfect help system of KsCD: "

This will stop any attempt to play the CD for now. Now click on the button labeled Extras. This will open a small menu. Select Configure KsCD.... This will open a new dialog box. Click the icon labeled CD Player on the left side of the dialog box. Place a mark in the checkbox labeled Use direct digital playback.
Sadly, this checkbox doesn't seem to exist, despite having d/l-ed the latest version of kdemultimedia from Suse (kscd 1.6).
Correct, it is absent, also in my Dutch translated version. So the help system is not so perfect... But I have two entries in KDE's menu for playing cd's. The second one runs gnome-cd, and that one can play cd's-without-cable.
greetz Marc
Make sure that your CD is not playing before you try and configure this. I know that on my system the box is greyed out and hard to see if the CD is playing. I am using KsCD 1.6 on Suse 9.2 with KDE 3.5.0 level a. I hope this helps you. Eric
