Hi, I have an HP NC8000 laptop with an SXGA+ LCD screen. I'm running SuSE Personal 9.1 and recently I recompiled the 3.9.0 fglrx driver for the 2.6.5-7.95 kernel. When I ran SaX2 and set the max resolution to 1400x1050, the display didn't look right (horizontal band of distorted pixels). The monitor SaX2 selected was a Samsung SEC 1024. Before the driver update, this same monitor and resolution worked fine. Has anyone had this problem, and found a way around it? Is there another monitor I should select? Can anyone confirm that this is or isn't a monitor type problem I'm experiencing? Thanks, Jason Mazzotta
Hi, I have been trying to achieve an infrared connection between my laptop and my cell phone. From what I have found on the internet (tuxmobil.org and irda.sourceforge.net), my laptop has an IrDA chip that doesn't play nicely with Linux. As such, it has to be set up with a hack from irda.sourceforge.net. I have tried to get this hack to work, but have not been successful. When I compile the smcinit executable and try to install smsc-ircc2, modprobe tells me that no such device exists. Has anyone been able to get IrDA to work with this laptop? If so, could you send me a step by step description of how you got it to work? Thanks, Jason Mazzotta
