Hallo Liste! Ich habe bei meinem Acer TM661 (Centrino-Chipsatz, leider)(Intel 855GM). WLAN und Smart-Media-Reader habe ich vorerst aufgegeben, aber zumindest die Auflösung von 1400x1050 sollte funktionieren, da sonst alles etwas verschwommen (interpoliert) aussieht. Nur leider schaffe ich es nicht! Ich bekommen folgende Fehlermeldung, wenn ich mit sax2 einrichte: (EE) I810(0): No valid modes. (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. Muß ich Modelines selbst ändern? Habe ich auch mit Beispielen versucht, hat gar nichts gebracht. Ich hätte auch schon mal den original Intel-Treiber auprobiert, ist aber nur binär für Kernel 2.4.18 und 2.4.19 verfügbar, ich habe SuSE-Linux 8.2 mit Kernel 2.4.20 und manchmal 2.4.21. Hat jemand eine Idee, wie ich an den richtigen Modus rankomme? Danke im voraus, Günther

Das Problem ist der i810-Treiber. Der ist von Intel so designed, dass er nur diejenigen Modi verwendet, die ihm das BIOS meldet. Jedweden anderen Modus ignoriert er. Modlines anpassen bringt in dem Fall dann gar nichts. Das Acer 661 hat ein BIOS, bei dem genau das der Fall ist. Um Kritik vorwegzunehmen: Ich finde das auch nicht gut. Im Moment kann ich mit keiner Abhilfe dafür dienen, allerdings sind wir neulich über http://www.chzsoft.com.ar/855patch.html gestolpert. Da findet sich ein patch für das Problem. Hallo, ich habe zwar ein Acer TM634, hatte aber auch mit unpassenden modelines zu kämpfen. Ich bekam erst die Auflösung 1400x1025, als ich eben diese modelines in der XF86config auskommentierte, bzw. in der Section "Monitor" auch "UseModes" auskommentierte. Ich hätte auch schon mal den original Intel-Treiber auprobiert, ist aber nur binär für Kernel 2.4.18 und 2.4.19 verfügbar, ich habe SuSE-Linux 8.2 mit Kernel 2.4.20 und manchmal 2.4.21.
Hat jemand eine Idee, wie ich an den richtigen Modus rankomme?
