Hallo Liste Ich habe mir eine ext.Festplatte (USB2.0) selbst zusammengebaut (ext.Gehäuse u. Festpallte 20GB).
Dear all, I have a really strange ethernet problem that has already mystified more experienced guys than me in the Linux world, but here it is... I am running a dual boot XP/Suse 8.1 on a Toshiba Satellite S255 and an RTL 8139/8139C/8139C+. Initially everything was ok and both XP and SuSe were running just fine. But then suddently and without any changes in the configuration the internet was not reachable anymore on SuSE even though the lights are blinking and the card is up (this was about 2 months ago). Under XP immediately after boot the internet is also unreachable but then after XP negotiatiates for about a minute or it can connect to net and everything works well. Now I have tried connecting my laptop to various LANs, both DCHP and fixed IP, and also tried a DSL modem at home. It does exactly the same everywhere EXCEPT that yesterday I tried it on one DHCP hub in College and it worked under SuSE right away. Needless to say once I got back home it wouldn't connect to the network anymore. I have tried another card as well but that was a disaster because SuSE didn't recognize it and I didn't know how to configure it manually. I have also installed SuSE in VMware 4.0 where through the bridged network thingy it connects to the internet just fine using XP. (I'd rather not have to use VMware and would much rather be ablet to connect to the network straight from my SuSE partition). Please let me know of any ideas or suggestions you might have!! Thanks, j. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! http://sbc.yahoo.com

I suggest you try a) http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/81_acpi.html b) http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/81_update_kernel.html Greetings from Bremen hartmut P.S. You just hijacked another thread ("[suse-laptop] USB 2.0 Festpaltte") by using the reply function of your mailer. Please avoid doing this. It's annoying for all people that care for threads. Just start a new mail instead.

Ergänzend kannst Du die entsprechenden Mount-Einträge auch in der /etc/fstab eintragen oder über YAST2->Partitionieren in die fstab eintragen lassen. MfG, -- Martin Pitsch Tel.: +49 (7146) 28 24 07 Fuchsgrube 8 Fax : +49 (89) 14 88 22 80 16 71686 Remseck am Neckar www : http://www.martin-pitsch.de
